Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric PACU assignment in Madison, Wisconsin. Requires WI or compact RN license and at least 2 years of pediatric PACU experience with BLS/PALS.

Night shifts are 4x12 hours with flexible start times. Telemetry and Epic EMR experience preferred. Magnet-designated hospital exposure expected, with no on-call requirements.

Qualifications

  • Active WI RN license or compact RN license required.
  • Minimum 2 years of pediatric PACU experience required.
  • BLS and PALS certifications required (AHA only).
  • Epic EMR experience required, ideally within the past 12 months.
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required.
  • Teaching hospital experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients recovering from surgery across multiple specialties.
  • Perform respiratory and airway management including end-tidal CO2 monitoring and ventilated patient care.
  • Manage IV therapy, central/PICC lines, and blood product administration.
  • Support pain management, including PCA pump administration.
  • Monitor for malignant hyperthermia and dysrhythmia protocols.

Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric PACU position requiring at least 2 years of pediatric PACU experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Details
  • Work in the Pediatric PACU of a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center at a Magnet-designated children's hospital
  • Care for pediatric surgical and post-anesthesia patients across a wide range of specialties including neuro/spine, ortho, ENT, urology, and general surgery
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours, 7:00pm-7:30am or 11:00pm-7:30am with flexibility
  • Schedule may include Monday-Friday or Sunday-Thursday rotations
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required as needed
Requirements
  • Active WI RN license or compact RN license required
  • BLS and PALS certifications required (AHA only)
  • Minimum 2 years of pediatric PACU experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty required
  • Epic EMR experience required, ideally within the past 12 months
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Must pass telemetry exam prior to starting assignment with strict passing criteria on adult and pediatric rhythm interpretation
Additional Information
  • Provide post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients recovering from a variety of surgical procedures including neuro, ortho, ENT, and general surgery cases
  • Perform respiratory and airway management including end-tidal CO2 monitoring, airway assessment, and care of ventilated patients
  • Manage IV therapy, central and PICC lines, and blood product administration
  • Support patients through pain assessment and management, including PCA pump management
  • Monitor for and manage malignant hyperthermia and dysrhythmia protocols
  • Local candidates are not accepted; must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • Previous travel experience with a similar specialty is required
  • Parking permit required if parking onsite, though alternative transportation options are available
