Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) assignment in Washington, DC. You will provide direct patient care in a Magnet-designated CVPICU with 1:2 patient ratios, 3x12 day and night shifts, and rotating days.

DC RN license required with 24–48 hour processing if pending. Must have 2+ years CVPICU, BLS/PALS; ACLS preferred; travel with housing support and Cerner charting experience.

Qualifications

• Active DC RN license required and must be issued prior to start.
• DC/MD/VA compact license acceptable for MD/VA applicants.
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required; ACLS preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of recent, dedicated stand-alone CVPICU experience.
• Teaching hospital experience preferred.
• Skills in CV care including CVP monitoring, ECMO, dysrhythmia management, and post cardiac surgery care.
• Respiratory skills including ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and suctioning.
• Experience with central line care, arterial line management, and administration of blood products.
• Experience with CRRT and acute/chronic renal failure management.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the pediatric CVPICU.
• Maintain 1:2 patient ratios.
• Work Day and Night shifts with rotation every 3-4 weeks.
• Self-scheduling with every other weekend and every other holiday.
• No on-call requirements.
• Float to NICU/PICU as needed.
• Uses Cerner charting system.
• Facility may attempt straight shifts but not guaranteed.
• RTO: maximum 1 week; full-week RTO requires making up missed shifts at end of assignment.
• Pre-start training modules averaging 20+ hours (non-billable).
• Scrubs may be any color but logo-free and child-friendly.
• Local candidates accepted with no mileage restriction.
• First-time travelers accepted.
• Returning travelers must be separated from facility for at least 1 year.
• Photo submission required upon contract signature if offered and accepted.

Requirements

• Active DC RN license required, applied for within 24-48 hours of signing if pending; must be issued prior to start date
• MD/VA applicants may hold a compact or state license
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent, dedicated stand-alone CVPICU experience (floating does not count)
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skills in cardiovascular care including CVP monitoring, ECMO, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and post cardiac surgery care
• Respiratory skills including ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and suctioning
• Experience with central line care, arterial line management, and administration of blood products
• Experience with CRRT and acute/chronic renal failure management

Responsibilities

• Work in the CVPICU of a Magnet-designated, teaching, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center
• 1:2 patient ratios
• Day (3x12, 7:00-19:30) and Night (3x12, 19:00-7:30) shifts with rotation every 3-4 weeks required
• Self-scheduling with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• No on-call requirements
• Float to other critical care units (NICU/PICU) as needed, all ages
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Facility will attempt to accommodate straight shifts but cannot guarantee or list this on the contract
• Provide direct patient care in a pediatric cardiovascular ICU setting
• Maximum 1 week RTO; full-week RTO requires making up missed shifts at the end of the assignment
• No RTO permitted after initial offer
• Pre-start training modules required prior to orientation, averaging 20+ hours and non-billable
• Scrubs may be any color but must be logo-free and child-friendly
• Local candidates accepted with no mileage restriction at the same bill rate
• First-time travelers accepted
• Returning travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year
• A photo submission is required upon contract signature if offered and accepted
