American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric ICU position in Rapid City, SD. The role requires at least 1.5 years PICU RN experience and an active SD or compact RN license.

You will work a 15-bed unit (PICU 5 beds), rotate between General Pediatrics and PICU for ages 0-18 with occasional adult overflow. Expect 12-hour night shifts (36 hours/week) and every-other-weekend rotation.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in SD or Compact required.
• BLS, PALS, NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum 1.5 years PICU RN experience.
• Completion of an approved nursing education program.
• Ability to assess patients from 0 through adult.
• Ability to titrate drips and care for ventilated patients.
• Proficient use of EPIC charting system.

Responsabilités

• Work in a 15-bed Pediatric Unit including a 5-bed PICU.
• Rotates between General Pediatrics and PICU for ages 0-18, with occasional stable adult overflow.
• Care for PICU patients with respiratory, circulatory, infectious, endocrine/metabolic, neurologic, trauma, and hematologic/oncologic issues.
• Maintain 1:5 ratio in General Pedi and 1:1–2 in PICU.
• 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week; weekend rotation every other weekend.
• May float to NICU or Gen Peds; possible on-call.
• Uses EPIC charting system and Omnicell.
• RNs perform phlebotomy and IV starts; ultrasound available for difficult IVs.
• Orientation includes facility and unit days with a preceptor.

• Minimum 1.5 years of PICU RN experience required

• Ability to perform physical assessments on patients ages 0 through adult
• Ability to titrate drips and care for mechanically ventilated patients
• Proficient use of EPIC charting system

Responsibilities

• Work in a 15-bed Pediatric Unit including a 5-bed PICU
• Rotates between General Pediatrics and PICU patient populations ages 0-18, with occasional stable adult overflow patients
• PICU patients require critical or intensive care for conditions including respiratory insufficiency, circulatory failure, infectious disease, endocrine/metabolic disorders, neurologic disease, trauma, and hematologic/oncologic disease
• General Peds patients present with respiratory illness, diabetes, septicemia, cellulitis, hyperbilirubinemia, neglect/abuse, mental health, trauma, neurology, and general surgical needs (ENT, GI, urological, orthopedic, neurosurgery, trauma)
• Patient ratios are 1:5 on General Pediatrics and 1:1-2 in PICU
• 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• May float to NICU (30-bed, feeder/growers, 1:3 ratio) or Gen Peds (up to 1:5 ratio)
• May be placed on low census/on-call status
• Uses EPIC charting system and Omnicell
• Evaluate patient symptoms and vital signs, administer medications, and educate patients and families on plan of care
• Supported by CNAs (1:5 ratio), a shared charge nurse covering both units, Resource/Educator nurses, case management, social work, respiratory therapy, and hospitalist/APP support
• RNs perform their own phlebotomy and IV starts, with ultrasound available for difficult IVs
• Orientation includes 1 day of facility orientation and 2 days of unit orientation with a preceptor
• Holiday coverage required for all holidays
• Time off requests must be pre-approved
• Navy scrub color required

• First-time travelers considered only if they have more than 2 years of experience
• Candidates must live outside a 100-mile radius to be eligible for travel assignment
