Job summary

American Traveler Staffing Professionals in California is seeking an experienced PACU RN for a Level I Trauma Center teaching hospital. The role requires a CA RN license, BSN and high-acuity PACU experience.

You will recover complex surgical and ICU patients, support Phase I/II recovery, and use Epic charting. Day/evening 3x12 shifts with a 1:2 patient ratio and 13-week assignment.

Qualifications

  • Active CA RN license required at time of submission.
  • BSN required.
  • AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
  • CCRN and NIHSS certifications preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant inpatient PACU experience required.
  • Teaching hospital experience required and must be reflected in employment history.
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required; Level II preferred.
  • Epic charting experience required.
  • Community hospital and LTAC experience preferred.
  • Previous charge experience preferred.
  • 2 professional references from most recent employer required for consideration.

  • Recover high-acuity patients including kidney transplant, craniotomy, transaortic valve replacement, spine surgery, ICU, and VATS cases

  • Day and evening shift options available (3x12 hours), including 0630-1900, 0900-2100, 1000-2200, 1100-2330, or 1300-0130
  • Patient ratio of 1:2

  • May float to other UCSF facilities within a 75+ mile radius, subject to meeting job specifications
Requirements

Additional Information
  • Provide recovery care for complex surgical and ICU patient populations across multiple specialties including cardiac, neuro, vascular, transplant, and orthopedic cases
  • Skilled in airway management, ventilator care, cardiac monitoring, and post-anesthesia recovery protocols
  • Experience with a wide range of surgical case types including bariatrics, gynecology, ENT, urology, and thoracic procedures preferred
  • Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed for rehire eligibility review
  • All requested time off must be disclosed at time of consideration and approved by the manager; no additional time off requests accepted mid-contract, and none permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates
  • Travel pairs allowed but generally not placed on the same unit; married couples may not work together on the same unit
