Job summary

Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Peoria, Illinois. This position involves working on a neuroscience unit with telemetry monitoring and neuro-focused care, including stroke and spine surgery patients.

The role requires active Illinois RN licensure, BLS and NIHSS, with night shift schedules at 12 hours and an expected minimum of 36 hours per week.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS certifications; active Illinois license or proof of application; at least 1 year of relevant nursing experience; previous neuro unit experience; Level 1 trauma patient care experience; experience working with titratable drips and telemetry monitors; flexible with floating in rotation; able to read telemetry strips; working knowledge of Phillips telemetry monitors.

Responsibilities

Care for patients in a 54-bed neuroscience unit focusing on stroke, spine surgery, seizures, brain tumors and head injuries.
Work 12-hour night shifts with 1:5-6 nurse-to-patient ratio on nights; assist with high-flow oxygen therapy and titratable drips per protocol.
Unit has dedicated charge nurse and 24/7 house supervisor; orientation includes 2 days of unit-specific training plus preceptor-guided patient care.
Support travel nursing assignment requirements and floating across units as needed.
