Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical ICU position in California. A CA RN license, ACLS, PALS, and NRP are required; BLS is also necessary, with TNCC preferred. EPIC EMR proficiency is expected and 3+ years of specialty ICU experience is preferred.

The role features a night shift (4x12s, 1900–0730) with a 48-hour week and some float to ER to reduce on-call time. Strong patient and family education and discharge planning are key elements of care.

Qualifications

• CA RN license required.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP; TNCC preferred.
• 1 year ICU experience preferred; 3+ years specialty experience with recent activity in last 3 months.
• BSN preferred; acute care facility experience preferred.
• EPIC EMR experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in a Medical ICU unit setting according to standards and nursing process.
• Night shift 4x12s (1900-0730), 48 hours per week; may float to ER to avoid call.
• Supervise nursing staff and coordinate care with other disciplines.
• Collaborate with patients and families and other healthcare providers to ensure safe, healing care.
• Participate in discharge planning and provide patient education.

• Limited call requirements due to low census, may float to ER to avoid call

• Delivers coordinated nursing care for an assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process
• Supervises and directs activities of assigned nursing staff and coordinates care with other disciplines
• Collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure safe, healing, and humane care
• Participates in discharge planning to support continuity of care
• Provides patient and family education as part of care delivery
• Candidates with more than 5 days of requested RTO will be automatically declined
• Candidates with a prior hit on license will not be considered
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates with no radius restriction
