Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for Med/Surg Tele on a night shift float pool at a major Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital in Georgia. You’ll cover Med/Surg and Telemetry units with patient RN ratios of 1:4–6, 36-hour weeks, and weekend rotations.

The role uses EPIC EMR, Alaris pumps, Pyxis, and Phillips monitors, with strong interdisciplinary support and a busy, team-oriented culture. You must have an active GA or Compact RN license, BLS, 2+ years Med/Surg/Tele RN experience, and

Qualifications

• Active RN license GA or Compact
• BLS mandatory; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years Med/Surg/Tele RN experience
• ≤12 months core work in specialty in last year
• Med/Surg certification a plus
• Proficient with cardiac drips including insulin and heparin
• Proficient in trach care, chest tube care, PIV starts, glucometer use
• Last 4 of SSN and full DOB required
• One supervisor-level reference within past year

Responsibilities

• Float pool covering Med/Surg and Telemetry units
• Units range 20–36 beds
• RN 1:4–6, LPN 1:4–6, CNA up to 1:14
• 12-hour night shift: 7P–7A, 36 hours/week
• Weekend rotation across a 6-week schedule
• No on-call requirements
• Operate in central telemetry monitoring with tech support
• Work with EPIC EMR, Alaris pumps, Pyxis, Phillips monitors
• Unit-specific equipment: VS3 monitors, glucose strips
• Float to all Med/Surg/Telemetry units as needed
• Hospital has Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations
• 24/7 RT, Hospitalist, Intensivist support; CNA aid on vitals and mobility
• PICC team available; phlebotomy on most units

Requirements

• Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
• BLS required; ACLS preferred, with EKG competency exam required during onboarding if not already certified
• Minimum 2 years Med/Tele RN experience required
• Minimum 12 months core work experience in specialty area within the last year
• Certification in Med/Surg is a plus
• Proficiency in all cardiac drips required, including insulin and heparin drips
• Skilled in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and glucometer use
• Last 4 of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within one year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Responsibilities

• Float pool position covering all inpatient Med/Surg and Telemetry units
• Units range from 20-36 beds each
• Patient ratios of RN 1:4-6, LPN 1:4-6, and CNA up to 1:14
• 12-hour night shift schedule (7P-7A), 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation of 6 shifts on a 6-week schedule
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Central telemetry monitoring unit with dedicated tech support
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis med dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• Unit-specific equipment includes VS3 vital sign monitors and Nova Glucose Stat Strips
• Required to float to all Med/Surg and Telemetry units as needed
• Work at a 637-bed Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital with Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations
• Strong interdisciplinary support including 24/7 RT, Hospitalist, and Intensivist coverage
• CNA support for vitals, blood glucose checks, baths, feeding, and patient mobility
• Charge nurse and resource/discharge nurse support available on each shift
• Lab collect phlebotomy on most units; RNs draw from CVLs as needed; dedicated PICC team available
• Unit culture described as busy and team-oriented
• Orientation includes 1 day of facility orientation with educational modules and 2 days of departmental orientation
• Navy scrubs required for RNs
• Free parking available around campus, with paid parking deck options
• Holiday coverage required for approximately 75% of holidays
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
