Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position on a post-surgical unit in Virginia. Active VA or compact RN license and Epic proficiency are required. The role demands 2+ years of relevant experience, BLS, and telemetry skills on a high-volume unit.

Night shifts are 3x12 or 4x12 (19:00-7:30) with a typical 1:7 patient ratio. Travel housing/licensure support and comprehensive benefits are provided. Detailed testing and address verification are part of the process.

Qualifications

• Active VA or compact RN license in hand required.
• Minimum of two years recent relevant experience.
• BLS certification required, ACLS preferred.
• Proficiency in Epic required.
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred.
• Community hospital experience preferred.
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/peripheral/PICC line care, blood product administration, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry monitoring.
• Experience with wound care, insulin protocols, tracheostomy care, and surgical drain management.
• Must pass an EKG/telemetry competency test with 80% or higher, no remediation available.
• Must successfully complete a fit test, as PAPR accommodations are not available.
• Candidates with any license or background hits will not be considered.

Responsibilities

• Work in a high-volume post-surgical Med/Surg Tele unit caring for urology and GYN surgical patients.
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30).
• Typical patient ratio of 1:7.
• Every other weekend, floating, and holiday coverage required within the contract.
• Must work two of the three winter holidays.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Provide direct patient care on a post-surgical Med/Surg Tele unit including monitoring, medication administration, and emergency response.
• Approximately 3 hours of billable modules required prior to start.
• Requested time off must be submitted upfront and will be reviewed on a per-case basis.
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be considered for this RN position.
• A driver's license must be provided for address verification prior to offer acceptance.
