Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology RN Nurse Navigator for a Radiation Oncology position requiring an active DC RN license and prior oncology or navigator experience.
Details
- Chemo/Radiation Oncology unit within a hospital setting
- Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Primarily cancer patients receiving radiation therapy, reporting Monday through Friday
- Duties include chart preparation, disability forms, pharmacy calls, and telephone triage
- Starts IVs on adult patients
- Charting performed in Cerner
Requirements
- Active DC RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience within the last 7 years
- Must have completed at least 1 previous travel assignment
- Cerner charting experience required
- Experience with port care, central line/implanted line care, and starting IVs required
- Experience managing oncologic emergencies including ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression required
- Experience with neutropenic precautions and tracheostomy care/management required
- Experience with external radiation therapy (teletherapy) and radiation safety precautions required
- Wound care experience required
- Experience managing symptoms such as altered mental status, constipation/diarrhea, dysphagia, edema, nausea/vomiting, and neuropathy required
- Nurse navigator or nurse coordinator experience preferred
- Oncology and radiation oncology experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care including education, skincare/wound care, and assessment of radiation toxicity
- Assess and communicate any concerning signs or symptoms to the attending physician, resident, or emergency services as needed
- Address social needs of patients undergoing radiation treatment
- Flu vaccine required for all employees at this facility
- Local candidates within 60 miles accepted
- Candidates previously employed by this health system must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler

- Pay: $2,379/wk (estimated weekly pay range $2,164 - $2,379) - higher end of range
- Assignment Total (14 Weeks): $33,312

- Weekly Wages: $760/wk
- Regular Hours: $19.00 x 40 hours/wk = $760
- Weekly Stipends: $1,619/wk
- Lodging: $163.35 x 7 days = $1,143
- Meals & Incidentals: $68.00 x 7 days = $476
In compliance with state pay transparency laws, we disclose that the estimated weekly pay range for this role is $2,164 - $2,379. The $2,379 weekly pay shown in this posting, along with related figures, corresponds to the higher end of this range. Weekly travel pay includes tax-free stipends per IRS guidelines. Weekly local pay is fully taxable and therefore lower due to additional employer-paid taxes and related costs.
