Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Oncology RN with ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification for a day shift acute care hospital assignment.

Details

• Med/Surg Oncology unit in a short-term acute care hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating between units and sister facilities may be required based on skill set
• No on-call responsibilities
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact must be in hand at time of submission)
• OR RN license required
• BLS certification required
• ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification required
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Experience with Autologous Stem Cell Transplant and CAR-T therapy patients preferred
• Skilled in chemotherapy administration, monitoring, and continuous/oral infusion
• Experience with IV therapy, blood product administration, and port/central line care
• Knowledge of oncologic emergencies including ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
• Skilled in symptom management including nausea, neuropathy, dysphagia, and altered mental status
• Must have a vehicle for this assignment

Additional Information

• Provide direct oncology nursing care including chemotherapy administration and monitoring for treatment-related complications
• Manage chest tubes, neutropenic precautions, and various oncology-related symptoms
• May float to sister facilities within the region based on staffing needs
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this block schedule position
• Former Providence permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront prior to offer, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
• Any color scrubs accepted for this unit
• No parking fees at this facility
