American Traveler is hiring an RN Nurse Navigator for an Oncology Clinic role requiring a DC RN license and at least 2 years of oncology-related nursing experience.

Details

Oncology Clinic setting within a Radiation Treatment Center
Patients report Monday-Friday for radiation therapy
Primary diagnosis population is cancer patients
Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Office duties include chart preparation, disability forms, pharmacy calls, and telephone triage
Charting completed in Cerner

Requirements

Active DC RN license required in hand
BLS certification required
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required within the last 7 years
At least one completed travel assignment required
Cerner charting experience required
Experience with port care, central line/implanted line care, and starting IVs in adults required
Skilled in managing oncologic emergencies including ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
Experience with neutropenic precautions and tracheostomy care/management required
Experience with external radiation therapy (teletherapy) and radiation safety precautions required
Skilled in symptom management including altered mental status, constipation/diarrhea, dysphagia, edema, nausea/vomiting, and neuropathy
Wound care experience required
Radiation Oncology experience preferred
Nurse Navigator or Nurse Coordinator experience preferred
Oncology experience a plus

Additional Information

Provide direct patient care including education, skincare/wound care, and assessment of radiation toxicity
Assess patients for signs or symptoms of concern and consult with attending physicians, residents, or emergency services as needed
Address patients' social needs as part of holistic care
Flu vaccine required for all employees at this facility
Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a different pay rate
Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first two weeks of the assignment
