The ideal candidate has 2+ years Med/Surg Oncology, active NJ license, BLS, and prior travel nursing; responsibilities include inpatient oncology care, chemotherapy administration, IV therapy, and port care.

Qualifications

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required.
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Oncology experience; travel experience preferred.
• BLS certification required prior to start.
• Prior travel nursing experience with clean professional record.
• Proficiency in IV therapy, ports care, chemotherapy administration, and line management.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in inpatient oncology units, including chemotherapy administration and central/PICC line management.
• Work night shift 19:00–07:30, 3x12-hour shifts, with every other weekend.
• Float to other units as needed; comply with hospital policies.
• Utilize Meditech EMR for documentation and patient records.
• Perform EKG rhythm interpretation and monitor cardiac rhythms.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a night shift Med/Surg-Oncology position requiring 2+ years of experience and prior travel assignment history.

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• 2 years of Med/Surg Oncology experience required, with less than 2 years requiring strong Oncology experience to be considered
• BLS certification required prior to start
• Prior travel nursing experience required with no history of clinical or professional cancellations
• Proficiency in IV therapy and infusions, accessing and managing ports, administration of blood and blood products, central line/implanted line care, PICC line care, starting and maintaining IVs, and chemotherapy administration required
• Experience in care and management of ports preferred
• Must pass a Basic Arrhythmia Exam with a minimum score of 80%, with no retakes permitted
• Proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination series and booster required
• One supervisory/manager reference dated within one year of assignment start required
• Current Nursys verification required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Inpatient oncology unit within a hospital setting
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to other units required, including the Ridgewood Observation Unit if assigned to Valley Hospital-Paramus or the Float Pool
• Meditech EMR experience preferred
• Provide direct patient care to inpatient oncology patients, including chemotherapy administration and central/PICC line management
• Must be proficient in EKG rhythm interpretation, heart rate calculations, and identification of atrial, ventricular, junctional, paced rhythms, and heart blocks
• Prior permanent employees of the facility are not eligible for this travel assignment
• Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are accepted at the local rate
• For candidates who have worked in New Jersey within the past 7 years, accurate employment history verification is required for facility review
• Lab work must be completed within two business days of offer acceptance to avoid assignment cancellation
