Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a 35-bed PCU/Oncology unit in Dayton, OH, requiring OH or compact RN license and dedicated stepdown/PCU patient care experience.

Night shifts are 4x12 hours (19:00–07:30); 36 or 48 hour schedules available. You will float to related units within 15 miles and must pass an online EKG competency assessment. Epic EMR is used on the unit.

Qualifications

• Active OH RN license or compact RN license required.
• BLS and ACLS certification required; ability to read and interpret EKG strips.
• OCN certification preferred.
• Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience required.
• Must have Stepdown or PCU experience; ICU experience does not qualify.
• Oncology experience required.
• Sickle cell experience and chemo certification preferred but not required.
• Epic charting experience preferred.
• Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred.
• Must pass online EKG competency assessment prior to starting assignment.
• Skilled in interpretation of dysrhythmias and IV therapy/infusions, including starting and maintaining IVs.

Responsibilities

• 35-bed medical and radiation oncology unit specializing in oncology and hematology patients.
• Mixed acuity unit caring for both Med Surg and Advanced Care patients.
• Targeted patient ratios of 1:4, with potential to be 1:5-6.
• Frequent exposure to blood products, chemotherapy, drips, PCAs, and wound care.
• Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30.
• 36 or 48 hour schedules available, no block scheduling.
• Required to float to all Stepdown/Advanced Care units and potentially across Premier Health campuses within 15 miles.
• Must work a minimum of every other weekend and every other holiday.
• Uses Epic EMR.
• RNs with ONS Certification administer chemotherapy on this unit.
• NR fitting N95 prior to HRRU; PAPR if provided.
• Navy blue scrubs required.
• Winter contract options of 13 or 18 weeks available.
• Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, requested at submittal.
• Local radius is 50 miles; local candidates are not accepted.
• First-time travelers preferred but not required.
• Previous PERM/PRN employees must wait 6 months before reapplying.

• Previous PERM/PRN employees of this health system or prior agency not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before reapplying as a traveler, pending facility rehire approval
