Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring 2 years of MS‑Tele experience and a CO or compact RN license in a Level 1 Trauma acute care hospital.

Details

• MS‑Tele Float pool covering multiple specialty units including Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Obs
• Adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses spanning post‑surgical, general medicine, psych/detox, ENT, and long‑term placement patients
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:5‑6 based on acuity
• RNs required to titrate Heparin drips
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 6‑9 weekend shifts within a 6 week schedule
• May be required to float into ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS‑Tele units
• May be asked to participate in Holiday Rotation
• Rare call/standby requirement for low census situations
• Nurse aids and respiratory therapy equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP) available on units
• Designated charge nurse on each unit who typically does not take a patient assignment

Requirements

• Active RN license, State or Compact (NLC) for CO required
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of MS‑Tele nursing experience required
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across a variety of med/surg and telemetry specialty units as part of a float pool
• Travelers expected to remain flexible to fill gaps in permanent staff scheduling
• All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment
• 1-2 days of unit‑specific orientation provided with a preceptor
• Any scrub color permitted per dress code
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel positions
• Candidates must be in‑state for orientation week, though initial modules may be completed remotely
• First‑time travelers may be considered
