Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Travel RN for a Med/Surg assignment at a Level II trauma medical center in Michigan. Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, 13 weeks, start ASAP. Must have MI RN license, oncology and Med/Surg experience, and travel nursing background; Epic EMR experience and BLS/ACLS preferred.

Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position at a Level II trauma medical center requiring oncology experience and comfort with step-down patients.

Details

• Medical/Oncology unit caring for patients with cancer diagnoses, medical step-down patients, and general medical overflow
• 324-bed medical center offering primary, specialty, and 24-hour emergency care with Level II trauma designation
• Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Required to accept step-down patients
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic EMR
• Navy blue scrub dress code

Requirements

• Active Michigan (MI) RN license required, compact license not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
• Oncology experience required
• Must be comfortable caring for step-down patients
• Prior travel nursing experience highly preferred
• Epic EMR experience highly preferred
• Current BLS certification (AHA) required
• Current ACLS certification (AHA) required
• Skills checklist current within 1 year pertinent to Med/Surg specialty required
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years required
• Active Michigan license verification via LARA and/or Nursys required

Additional Information

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients with a basic knowledge of cancer pathophysiology
• Provide direct patient care including assessments, medication administration, treatments, and responding to call lights and alarms
• Collaborate with the care team to evaluate and update treatment plans based on patient progress
• Process physician orders accurately and follow up on medication changes and order clarifications
• Facility requires candidates to provide their permanent address and does not consider local candidates within a 50-mile radius
• Maximum of 5 days RTO may be requested during the assignment
