Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Nephrology/Med-Surg unit in New Mexico. Active NM or Compact RN license and Med/Surg experience are required. BLS certification (AHA) is mandatory. ADN degree is required. Cerner EHR experience is preferred.

The 24-bed unit serves geriatric and adult patients with ESRD, peritoneal dialysis, and hemodialysis. Day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 13-week assignment, weekend shifts, and floating as needed are part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year experience, 2 years preferred
• ADN required
• Med/Surg experience required
• Charge Nurse experience preferred
• Nephrology experience preferred but not required
• Observation Unit experience a plus
• Cerner EHR experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Nephrology unit functions as an extension of Med/Surg within a Level III trauma center
• 24-bed unit caring for geriatric and adult patients
• Diagnoses include ESRD, peritoneal dialysis, and hemodialysis
• Patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6
• Uses VS machines, bladder scanners, lifts, thermal imaging, and IV pumps/tubing
• Charts in Cerner EHR
• Day shift 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
• 13-week assignment
• Weekend shifts required per facility policy
• No on-call; floating as needed
• Provide nursing care to nephrology and med/surg patients
• 198-bed Level III trauma center serves Trauma Level I–III cases
• Facilities services include medical, surgical, rehabilitation, childbirth, cancer, pediatric, and behavioral health
• Skills checklist must reflect at least a 3.2 overall rating
