Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring a CA RN license and 2 years of ICU experience.

Responsibilities include care in an 8-bed ICU with telemetry, ventilator management, and Cerner EMR usage, with 1:1 to 1:2 patient ratios. The role requires standing shifts 7:00 PM–7:30 AM and includes every-other-weekend and holiday rotation.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license (or Compact/NLC) required (pending licenses not accepted).
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications required (AHA).
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required.
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
• Driver's license required to validate legal name.

Responsibilities

• Acute care setting in an 8-bed ICU with a horseshoe layout, adjacent to PACU.
• Primarily medical ICU patient population with common ICU diagnoses.
• Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2.
• Uses Cerner EMR.
• Telemetry monitoring with EKG interpretation required.
• Ventilator management required.
• 24/7 in-house Hospitalist or Intensivist coverage, along with 24/7 RT and Pharmacy support.
• Charge nurse generally does not take patients but assists with break relief.
• Nurse aides available based on census and staffing needs.
• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• Every other weekend required.
• Rotates holiday coverage with core staff.
• First to float to sister facilities and to the Woodland MedSurg unit (up to 4 patients).
• Self-scheduling used, finalized by manager, with schedules posted 4 weeks out.
• Provide direct patient care to medical ICU patients including ventilator and telemetry monitoring.
• Floor-specific orientation includes 1-2 days with a preceptor.
• Navy scrub color required; under-shirts must be navy, white, or black; scrub jackets optional and must be navy.
• Must complete a pass/fail sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on first day of orientation.
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI or Dignity) within the past year, though PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable.
• Good opportunity for a candidate with basic ICU experience.

• Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance, within 24-48 hours, pass/fail with 2 attempts allowed
