Description

American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN with 2 years of critical care experience for a 12-hour day shift acute care assignment requiring an active IL license.

Details

Acute care ICU unit with 6 beds
Patient ratio of 1:3 for actual ICU patients
Common diagnoses include STEMI, 3rd degree heart block, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, sepsis, COVID, and flu
EPIC EMR used
Monitor techs available 24/7; RNs sign off on strips 3x per shift
Charge nurse and house supervisor coverage on unit
Nurse aides available at 1:6 ratio
PT/OT/SLP and pulmonary or cardiac rehab support available
RT support ranging from nasal cannula to ventilator care
Weekend requirement every other weekend typically
Holiday requirement every other holiday typically
Low census/call off policy equivalent to 12 hours every 13 weeks
Floating may be required to Med Surg, ED, or BHC based on candidate experience

Requirements

Active IL RN license required
BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
PALS and NIH Stroke Scale certifications preferred
Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
Experience caring for ventilated patients, temporary pacemakers, balloon pumps, and hemodynamic monitoring required
Experience with BiPAP management required
Experience titrating drips such as Cardizem, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin, Levophed, vasopressin, nitroglycerin, nicardipine, and Neosynephrine required
BSN not required for this position

Additional Information

Provide direct ICU nursing care including drip titration and ventilator management
Attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehab on day shift
Participate in department-specific orientation consisting of one full shift with an orientation binder provided
On-call is not common; local coverage (LC) may occur occasionally
Scrubs of any color permitted; closed-toed shoes and good personal hygiene required
Negative drug screen required for all panels as OSF is a drug-free campus
COVID vaccination not required for this facility
Local candidates welcome; reduced local rate applies for clinicians within 50 miles of the facility
