Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week travel assignment in California. The role emphasizes neuro patient care, stroke management, and advanced monitoring, with a high patient acuity and a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio.

Requirements include an active CA RN license, BLS/ACLS, NIHSS, and 3+ years in ICU. Prior travel nursing experience is preferred, with potential housing support and travel reimbursements offered.

Qualifications

• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 3 years of RN ICU experience required
• At least 1 year of travel nursing experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Proficiency with neuro patient care including CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
• Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory/thoracic care
• Experience with central line, arterial line, and PICC line management
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and acute/chronic renal failure management
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required

Responsibilities

• ICU setting with a high volume of neurological patient cases
• 1:2 patient ratio
• 3x12 hour day shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required, plus additional weekends based on unit needs
• On-call as needed
• May float to other units within scope of practice, including Summit or Herrick campuses, with shuttle service provided for floating
• Uses Epic charting system
• Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients with a strong focus on neurological cases
• Care for patients requiring hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator support, and multisystem organ management
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius unless approved for travel rate
• Holiday coverage may be required for New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day, with only one holiday request approved per contract
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
• Returning staff or travelers must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible for rehire
• Re-orientation only required if separated 6+ months since last shift at the same facility
• Local candidates accepted at local rate
• First-time travelers may be considered given sufficient ICU experience
