Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ED RN for a float pool position covering multiple Denver-area facilities, requiring 2+ years of ED experience and compact or Colorado RN licensure.

Details

• Emergency Department float pool position covering multiple hospitals within the Denver Zone 3 region
• No home base facility; must float between OrthoColorado Hospital, Longmont United Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital, St. Anthony North Hospital, and 84th Ave Emergency Room
• Mix of Trauma Level 3 non-designated, STEMI receiving, and Stroke receiving facilities
• Treats an average of 40-168 patients per day depending on location
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity
• Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
• Uses Epic EMR
• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Schedules released 4-6 weeks in advance, with shifts assigned either for a full week at one facility or via just-in-time assignment 1-2 hours before shift start
• No monitor tech support; RN must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
• RNs are trained to perform Point of Care lab testing
• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
• Charge nurse role available and takes patient assignments

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC (all AHA where applicable)
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
• Must provide 2 professional references: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
• Driver's license copy required for consideration

Additional Information

• Must float throughout the entire Zone 3 region regardless of housing location, covering facilities up to 60 miles from Denver city center
• Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from Denver city center to be eligible
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Unit-specific orientation lasts 2-3 days, plus 12 hours of general orientation
• Candidates should plan to be in-state for orientation week even if initial modules are completed remotely
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
• Traveler should not miss more than 3 shifts during the 13-week contract
