American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Night Shift Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position in West Virginia. Requires WV or compact RN license, BSN, and 2+ years of ER experience. Travel nursing experience and EPIC EMR familiarity are required, with a driver’s license for consideration.

The ED is a 40-bed Level I-capable unit with trauma bays, RME beds, and telemetry; night coverage includes 12-hour shifts and rotated weekends, with comprehensive benefits and housing allowance.

Responsibilities

• Emergency Department with 40 beds including 2 trauma bays, 7 RME beds, and 2 psych/seclusion rooms.
• Average ~120 patients per day.
• Night shifts 12 hours, every-other-weekend (Fri/Sat) for nights; block scheduling may be accommodated.
• RN to patient ratio of 1:4; ED Techs assist with duties.
• 24/7 in-house RT and pharmacy support; Omnicell available.
• No dedicated IV team; nurses and PCTs perform lab draws.
• STEMI and Stroke center with Cath Lab/IR; stroke patients often transferred.
• Uses EPIC EMR for charting and monitoring; telemetry with central station.

• Unexpired driver's license copy required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Acute care Emergency Department with 40 beds, including 2 trauma bays, 7 Rapid Medical Exam (RME) beds, and 2 psych/seclusion rooms
• Averages approximately 120 patients per day
• Fast Track/RME area staffed with a PA or ED physician and an LPN or RN, open 11am-11pm or 1am
• RN to patient ratio of 1:4
• ED Techs support with ratios of 1:8-10, assisting with Foley insertion/removal, phlebotomy, EKGs, splinting, wound care, and transport
• No dedicated IV team; nurses and PCTs perform lab draws
• 24/7 in-house RT and pharmacy (Omnicell) support
• Free charge nurse coverage 24/7
• Common diagnoses include MVC trauma, STEMI, stroke, overdose, and behavioral health cases, including pediatric/adolescent patients awaiting placement
• STEMI and Stroke center with Cath Lab and IR, though stroke patients are typically transferred out
• Helipad available for transport, weather permitting
• 12-hour night shifts with every-other-weekend requirement (Fri/Sat for nights)
• Holiday coverage required as needed based on unit needs
• No floating required
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Charting and monitoring via Phillips hard-wired telemetry system with central station, no dedicated monitor tech
• Ventilator equipment includes Servo U, Hamilton G5, Transport Vent Hamilton T1, Philips Respironics V60 BiPAP, and AirVo/MaxTech high-flow systems
• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity Level I-capable ED, stabilizing and transferring patients as needed
• Scrub color is navy blue with navy or white jacket and white or navy undershirt; natural hair color only (no pink or blue); tattoos must be covered if distasteful
• Floor-specific orientation is 1-2 shifts of 12 hours depending on experience
• Schedule requests submitted via Kronos, typically arranged 2 weeks in advance for 4-week blocks; block scheduling may be accommodated if included in contract
• Night shift schedules are typically blocked
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers are limited to a cumulative one-year assignment length within the WVU system before requiring a 2-year break
• COVID vaccination required, with medical or religious exemption requests available through an approval process
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position due to the previous travel experience requirement
