Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN with Level I trauma experience for a night shift assignment requiring an active MI RN license.

The role includes working in a Level I trauma center ED with adult/pediatric patients, a Stroke Center and Heart Center, on a 19:00–07:30 schedule, with floating and weekend requirements, using Epic EMR system.

Qualifications

• Active MI RN license required by start date (compact license not accepted).
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required.
• Level I trauma center experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in a Level I Trauma Center with adult/pediatric ED, Stroke Center, and Heart Center.
• Night shift 19:00–07:30, 4x12-hour days.
• Patient ratios typically 1:5–6, up to 1:8 depending on volume/holidays.
• Work 3 weekends every 4 weeks; possible 1–3 days per weekend.
• Floating to other units including pediatric; no on-call duties.
• Use Epic charting system; participate in orientation/training.

Requirements

• Active MI RN license required by start date (compact license not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Level I trauma center experience required
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS (AHA), PALS, TNCC, NIHSS
• ENPC certification preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation administration preferred
• Triage experience preferred
• Proof of high school level education required

Responsibilities

• Level I Trauma Center with combined adult/pediatric emergency department, also serving as a Stroke Center and Heart Center
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 19:00-07:30
• Patient ratios typically 1:5-6, potentially up to 1:8 depending on patient volume and holidays
• Required to work 3 weekends (Fri-Sun) per 4 week schedule, potentially working 1-3 days per weekend
• Floating required, including possible pediatric floating
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Epic charting system
• Provide emergency care across a broad range of cases including trauma, cardiac, stroke, and pediatric emergencies
• Certifications may not be pending beyond contract start date
• Pre-start modules required, completion self-reported
• Epic training provided during orientation
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Returning core staff must wait 12 months before reapplying, subject to HR verification
• Maximum RTO of 5 days per assignment, must be submitted at time of consideration
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travel candidates
