Job summary

AdventHealth in Shawnee Mission, KS seeks an RN for PRN day shifts in a fast-paced hospital setting. The role emphasizes critical thinking, patient assessment, and evidence-based plans of care.

You will collaborate with physicians and staff to ensure high-quality care and patient safety. The position requires an Associate's in Nursing (Bachelor's preferred), 2+ years of acute-care experience, RN licensure, and BLS (TNCC preferred).

Qualifications

• Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care.
• Basic computer skills – must be able to navigate Microsoft Windows based programs.
• Must be fluent in English (read, verbal and written skills)

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates critical thinking skills appropriate to patient’s level of care.
• Collects and documents patient health data systematically and timely.
• Conducts thorough, ongoing assessments and develops individualized plans of care.
• Implements interventions from the plan of care safely and timely.
• Promotes timely patient placement by following hospital policy for admission, discharge and transfer.
• Administers medications and treatments as prescribed and ensures safety.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
• Educates patients and families on health conditions and care plans.
• Maintains compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
• Participates in quality, safety, and effectiveness initiatives in nursing practice.
• Serves as a patient advocate and ensures patient rights.
• Ensures safe handling of medical supplies and equipment.
• Ensures proper handoff communication and documentation.
• Follows CDC isolation guidelines and PPE usage.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
