Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Cath Lab RN for a travel assignment in a Magnet Hospital setting. The role requires cardiac catheterization and scrub experience, VA or compact RN license, and prior travel nursing background.

Day shift is 4x10 hours (7:30am-6pm) with on-call and late shifts periodically; 13 weeks length. Local candidates are not eligible, and first-time travelers are not accepted. Benefits unavailable here.

Qualifications

  • Active VA or compact RN license; emergency authorization allowed during license processing.
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required; RCIS certification preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years Cath Lab RN experience; 3+ years preferred.
  • Prior travel nursing experience required.
  • Scrub experience required; familiarity with cath lab procedures a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a Cath Lab environment.
  • Perform and assist in interventional cardiac procedures and scrub as needed.
  • Maintain sterile technique and rapid response capabilities.
  • Support on-call shifts and weekend coverage as required.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Cath Lab RN with cardiac catheterization and scrub experience for a fast-paced interventional cardiac cath lab, requiring VA or compact RN license and prior travel experience.

Details
  • Acute care teaching hospital setting in a Cath Lab unit
  • Adult patient population across 6 procedure rooms with a daily census of 15-20
  • Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease, valve disorders, heart failure, and atrial septal defect/patent foramen ovale closures
  • Advanced procedures performed include TAVR, left atrial appendage closures, Cardiomems, thrombectomy, mitral clips, renal denervation, and research protocols
  • Equipment used includes IABP, Impella, Penumbra, Rotapro, CSI, Shockwave, laser, OCT, and IVUS
  • Epic charting system required
  • Day shift schedule of 4x10 hours, 7:30am-6pm
  • Call requirement of 7 on-call shifts and 5 late shifts every 6-week period, including one full weekend (Fri-Sun) and one Saturday for elective cases
  • Must be able to return to hospital within 30 minutes when called
  • Holiday coverage required for one holiday per 13-week contract in rotation with staff
Requirements
  • Active VA or compact RN license (in hand or pending, with emergency authorization available while permanent VA license processes)
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required; CCI RCIS certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab RN experience required, with 3+ years preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Skilled in cardiac cath lab procedures including LHC, RHC, PCI, PTCA, stent placement, atherectomy, temp pacer, Impella, IABP, TAVR, Watchman, and Mitraclip
  • Scrub experience required
  • Proficient in sterile technique, EKG lead placement, dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation, hemodynamic monitoring, and rapid response protocols
  • Experience in diagnostic and interventional cath lab settings using fluoroscopy required
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions, equipment handling, and supply management required
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • 1:1 patient ratio experience required

  • Provide direct patient care in a nationally recognized cardiac cath lab accredited by the American College of Cardiology for PCI procedures
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team supporting six state-of-the-art cath labs and adjacent cardiac surgery and hybrid ORs
  • Located within a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, certified stroke center facility with over 700 licensed beds
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
  • Local candidates are not accepted
  • Candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility (measured from driver's license address) are not eligible unless meeting specific exception criteria
  • Previous employees (per diem or permanent) must have a minimum one-year separation before returning as a traveler
  • All RTO requests must be submitted upfront with the application
