Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. seeks an RN Case Manager for an acute care hospital assignment in Rapid City, SD, requiring a SD or compact RN license, active BLS, and prior discharge planning and case management experience.

You will support a Level II Trauma Center and magnet-designated teaching hospital with a caseload of 16–20 patients, 40 hours weekly, 8:00–16:30 shifts, EPIC charting, and weekend rotations; generous housing, per diem, and licensure travel reimbursements are provided.

Qualifications

• Active SD or compact RN license.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum 1.5 years of general nursing experience.
• Previous discharge planning and acute care case management experience required.
• Experience with progression of care and discussing care plans with families.

Responsibilities

• Case Management department within a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Magnet-designated teaching hospital.
• Provides care for patients across all acute care departments, typically remaining in the same area throughout the contract.
• Caseload of 1 case manager to 16-20 patients.
• 8-hour day shifts, 0800-1630, 40 hours per week.
• No on-call responsibilities.
• Weekend rotation of 2 weekends per 13-week assignment.
• Uses EPIC charting system (required).
• Supported by Case Management Assistants, Lead Case Managers, Social Workers, Utilization Review RNs, and Hospitalists.
• 1.5 weeks of facility and unit orientation including an EPIC class.
• Holiday coverage required for 2 of 4 major holidays.
• Time off requests approved up to 7 days, with full-week extensions required; no RTO during the Sturgis Bike Rally (first 2-3 weeks of August).
• Scrub color: Navy Blue or professional attire.
• Free parking provided.
• First-time travelers considered if they have more than 2 years of experience.
• Travelers must live more than 100 miles from any Monument Health facility.
• Permanent staff must wait one full year before returning as a traveler.
• Highly traveler-friendly facility known for renewing traveler contracts.
