Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CV Surgery ICU position requiring active MN RN licensure and prior CVICU or acute care ICU experience. You’ll join a 13-week assignment with 36 hours per week, with an option for 48 hours and rotating shifts.

You will provide direct patient care, educate families, and coordinate transitions of care within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model.

Qualifications

• Active MN RN license required; no pending licenses.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• CCRN certification preferred
• 2 years of recent acute care ICU nursing experience
• 6 months of travel nursing experience required; 3 total travel assignments preferred
• Experience with VAD, Impella, ECMO, balloon pumps preferred
• Must pass ECG exam during orientation
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE nursing program; additional experience required if program not accredited or graduation not within the last two years

Responsibilities

• Work in the CV Surgery ICU of a hospital setting
• 13-week assignment at 36 hours per week with option for 48 hours
• Day/Night rotation and straight nights, including every 3rd weekend
• Floating required as needed
• Cardiac monitoring/telemetry required, including ability to read strips
• Uses Epic for charting
• Coordinate direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model
• Provide leadership through mentoring, teaching, and quality improvement efforts
• Delegate patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, and available resources
• Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts per 13-week assignment due to low census
• Travelers may remain on assignment up to one calendar year from initial start date, after which a 30-60 day break is required before returning
• COVID vaccination and booster required for eligibility

• CCRN certification preferred
• 2 years of recent acute care ICU nursing experience required, CVS ICU experience preferred
• 6 months of recent travel nursing experience required, 1 year preferred, and/or 3 total travel assignments
• Experience with VAD, Impella, ECMO, and balloon pumps preferred
• Must pass ECG exam during orientation to continue assignment
• Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate, associate, or diploma nursing program (ACEN or CCNE); additional experience required if program not accredited or graduation not within the last two years
