Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with pediatric experience for a Level III trauma center in Rhode Island. This travel position offers evening and night shifts, 40 hours per week, and opportunities to float to affiliated hospitals.

Candidates must hold an RI license (CT license in process where applicable), BLS, CRT (RRT preferred), and have 2+ years' experience including pediatrics and travel work.

Qualifications

• RI license required; BLS certification required; CRT certification required; RRT preferred; Minimum 2 years experience; Pediatrics experience required; Prior travel experience required; Proficient in drawing arterial blood gases; Skilled with airway management devices and suctioning; Experience with intubation assist; Experience with nasal and oral airway placement and suctioning; Experience with ETT and NT suctioning; Experience with tracheostomy care and management; One professional reference required

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care in a Level III trauma center with 252 staffed beds in Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department settings
• Utilize Epic charting system (preferred)
• Work evening (4x10) and night (4x10) shifts; 40 hours per week
• Share coverage including every other weekend and every other holiday as needed
• Floating to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital as required
• Receive free parking; travel within Yale New Haven Health System as applicable
• Participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
• Ensure flu vaccine and COVID vaccine adherence with exemptions as required

• Active Rhode Island license required to start; Connecticut license must be applied for/in process prior to submission
• License required if applicable
• BLS certification required
• CRT certification required; RRT preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience required (1.5 years may be considered with Level I trauma or travel experience)
• Pediatrics experience required
• Prior travel experience required
• Skilled in drawing arterial blood gases
• Experience with airway management devices and suctioning
• Experience with intubation assist
• Experience with nasal and oral airway placement and suctioning
• Experience with ETT and NT suctioning
• Experience with tracheostomy care and management
• One professional reference required

• Short-term acute care Level III trauma center with 252 staffed beds
• Works in Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department settings
• Uses Epic charting system (preferred)
• Evening (4x10, 14:45-0:45) and Night (4x10, 23:00-9:00) shift options, 40 hours per week
• At least every other weekend and every other holiday required based on department need
• Floating to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital as needed
• Free parking available
• Part of Yale New Haven Health System
• Provide respiratory care services within adult critical care and emergency department settings
• Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required except for religious or medical exemption
• Candidates must live outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be eligible unless a local rate is arranged
• Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
• Up to 7 days of requested time off can be auto-approved
