Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a night shift at a children\'s hospital serving adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients in San Antonio, TX.

The role involves critical care and routine respiratory care with shift hours from 6:45 PM to 7:00 AM. This full-time 13-week assignment includes airway and ventilator management, duties as needed, and potential leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience preferred.
• RT license required in TX.
• RRT NBRC certification required.
• BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required (AHA).
• NRP certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care in a pediatric hospital setting that also treats adult and neonatal patients.
• Perform airway management, ventilator duties, and oxygen delivery monitoring.
• Conduct patient assessments and develop respiratory care plans under physician supervision.
• Possibly serve as Shift Leader or Team Leader as needed.
• Maintain documentation and support CAP/JC surveys.
• Assist with bronchoscopy, hemodynamic monitoring, polysomnography, and transport duties.

Requirements

• RT or RCP license required in the state of TX (license required if applicable)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification by NBRC required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required (AHA only)
• NRP certification required

Responsibilities

• Respiratory Therapy department in a children's hospital setting
• Provides pulmonary care to critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients
• Night shift hours from 6:45 PM to 7:00 AM
• Full time, 13-week assignment
• Performs emergency response (Code Blue and White), airway management, ventilator management, and oxygen delivery monitoring
• May function as Shift Leader or Team Leader
• Advanced duties may include bronchoscopy assist, hemodynamic monitoring, polysomnography, and transport duties
• Performs patient assessments and institutes respiratory care plans under minimal physician supervision
• Responsibilities include airway retaining device placement, chest film analysis, bloodgas collection and analysis, and EKG analysis
• Maintains accurate and complete documentation and participates in CAP and JC surveys
• Cleans and stocks equipment and supplies as needed
• Returning CHRISTUS employees must be separated for at least 6 months system-wide prior to consideration for a travel assignment
