American Traveler is seeking a NICU Respiratory Therapist for a night shift at a children's teaching hospital. The position requires Level 4 NICU experience and NICU/PICU background, with the ability to work 3x12-hour nights (19:00-07:00) and float within scope.

The role involves neonatal and pediatric respiratory care, high-frequency ventilation, and arterial blood gas interpretation, with travel housing and licensure support offered to eligible travelers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year NICU and PICU experience required, with Level 4 NICU experience required.
• RRT, BLS, and NRP certifications required.
• PALS and ACCS certifications preferred.
• VA state license required if applicable, pending license accepted only if another state license is held and VA temp license can be obtained before start.
• Epic EMR experience required.

Responsibilities

• Care for neonatal and pediatric patients in a Level 4 NICU.
• Night shift on 3x12-hour schedule, 19:00-07:00.
• Provide high-frequency jet ventilation, CPAP/BiPAP, airway management.
• Unit uses self-scheduling; floating within scope as needed.
• Must be able to work 2 of the 3 winter holidays.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of NICU and PICU experience required, with Level 4 NICU experience required
• PICU Cardiac experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• RRT, BLS, and NRP certifications required
• PALS and ACCS certifications preferred
• VA state license required if applicable, pending license accepted only if another state license is held and VA temp license can be obtained before start
• Epic EMR experience required
• BSN preferred

Responsibilities

• Work in the NICU at a children's hospital, part of a teaching hospital system
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-7:00
• Options for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required, with a requirement to work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Unit uses a self-scheduling model, though desired schedules are not guaranteed
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed
• Time off cannot be accommodated around Christmas
• Provide respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric patients, including high-risk deliveries, ventilator management, and airway management
• Skilled in medication delivery systems, nebulizer treatments, and interpretation of arterial blood gases
• Experience with high frequency jet ventilators, oscillating ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, and neonatal transports
• Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
• First-time travelers considered
• Previous UVA Health employees must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval to return; external travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, with all time off disclosed prior to submission
• No radius restriction for this unit
