Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of RRT-NICU experience in Level III/IV NICU
• Direct delivery attendance experience required; delivering facility preferred
• Current ACLS, BLS, NRP certifications
• RRT certification preferred; license as applicable

Responsibilities

Job description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level III/IV NICU night shift position requiring 2+ years of RRT-NICU experience and delivery attendance skills.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of RRT-NICU experience in a Level III or Level IV NICU setting
• Work history must be from a delivering facility with direct experience attending deliveries
• Children's hospital experience alone does not meet this requirement
• Strong neonatal intubation and neonatal arterial stick skills required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP
• RRT certification preferred
• License required if applicable
• Prior travel assignment experience required
• Skilled in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and chest physiotherapy

Responsibilities

• Work in a Level III or Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at a delivering facility
• 13-week assignment
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Cares for neonatal and pediatric patients including those with RDS, RSV, BPD, and transient tachypnea of the newborn
• Performs neonatal intubation, arterial and capillary blood gas draws, and umbilical blood gas sampling
• Assists with high-risk deliveries and neonatal inter-departmental transports
• Manages ventilators including oscillating and pressure/volume ventilators, CPAP/Nasal CPAP/BIPAP
• Performs airway management including intubation, extubation, and suctioning
• Administers medications via various delivery systems including MDI, nebulizer, and aerosol setups
• Facility is tobacco-free
• Accepts local candidates at the same rate
• Works as part of a multidisciplinary NICU care team
• Responsible for patient assessment, ventilator management, and respiratory treatments across neonatal and pediatric populations
• Provides emergency airway support and assists with high-risk deliveries as needed
