American Traveler is seeking a travel Registered Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week assignment in Columbia, South Carolina, with a 36-hour work week on a 12-hour night shift (3x12). Start date 11/16/2026. Openings: 1.

You will work in adult critical care and ED, with potential to float across units within the health system. Must hold an RRT with 1+ year of experience, EPIC EMR proficiency, and BLS/ACLS. Travel positions include competitive stipends and full benefits.

• Airway management including intubation assist, extubation, suctioning.
• Administer medications via nebulizer/MDI.
• Experience with ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia, CF, COVID.
• ABG draws/interpretation experience.
• Chest physiotherapy and pulmonary hygiene.

Details

• Work in an adult critical care and emergency department setting at a community hospital
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
• Weekend rotation required, typically no more than every other weekend
• Call requirements apply for 36-hour contracts, up to 2 call shifts per 6-week schedule (up to 4 per 13-week contract)
• On-call hours for night shift are limited to 4PM-8PM only
• Floating to other units or campuses within the health system may be required based on census needs, limited to qualified and competency-verified areas

Requirements

• Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience with EPIC EMR required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• State license required if applicable
• Skilled in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, IMV, and SIMV
• Experience with airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and suctioning
• Experience administering medications via nebulizer, MDI, and other delivery systems
• Experience caring for patients with ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia, cystic fibrosis, and COVID
• Experience with arterial blood gas draws and interpretation
• Experience with chest physiotherapy and pulmonary hygiene

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care to adult critical care and emergency department patients
• Participate in ventilator management and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Perform patient transport including inter-departmental and ambulance transport
• Troubleshoot high pressure ventilator alarms
• Work as part of a collaborative, team-oriented care unit
• Limited RTO expected and holidays are not guaranteed
• Orientation occurs every Monday with annual compliance training required
• Pre-assignment testing and training modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• First-time travelers will be considered
