Job summary

Sentara Leigh Hospital is seeking a Travel Registered Nurse (RN) for the Intermediate Care Unit (Stepdown) 4 East in Norfolk, VA. The role runs on the Night shift with a $70.00 per hour pay rate for a 14-week travel assignment.

Required are an RN license (Virginia or Compact), BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale, and 2+ years of acute care hospital experience. The unit provides advanced nursing care including ventilator management and telemetry monitoring.

Qualifications

• Must have two or more years of current acute care hospital RN experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• ACLS certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide intermediate/stepdown level care for IMC patients on 4 East.
• Monitor patients with continuous telemetry and adjust care as needed.
• Administer ventilator care and post-operative cardiac/vascular patient support.

Sentara Leigh Hospital is hiring a Travel Registered Nurse (RN) for our Intermediate Care Unit (Stepdown) 4 East!

Work Shift: Third (Nights)

• $70.00/hr pay rate
• Temporary Full Time

Education

• Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field required

Certification / Licensure

Department Overview

This 24 bed IMC Unit is designed for patients who are too ill for general medical/surgical, but do not need an intensive level of care. Patients on 4E require continuous monitoring and advanced nursing interventions including but not limited to ventilator management, tracheostomy care, telemetry monitoring, heparin infusions, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula and post-operative cardiac and vascular patient care.

Sentara Leigh Hospital is located in Norfolk, VA, is a 274-bed acute care facility that opened in 1903 and relocated to its present site in 1977. Our hospital completed a renovation in 2016, including two new patient towers, a beautiful atrium, and a multi-story parking garage. Sentara Leigh Hospital includes a dedicated Orthopedic Hospital providing patients access to a full continuum of orthopedic care, from the preoperative phase and surgery to rehabilitation and home care services. Along with being a recognized accredited Primary Stroke Center, and Magnet hospital for nursing excellence, we also specialize in orthopedic and spine care, heart, vascular, maternity care, and general surgery. We are also home to the region’s only 24-hour hyperbaric oxygen program that helps speed up the healing of carbon monoxide poisoning, wounds that won’t heal, infections in which tissues are starved for oxygen, airborne chemical exposures, and scuba diving accidents.
