This is a full-time role with day or night shifts and a sign-on bonus up to $15,000 for qualified applicants. The IMC unit provides continuous monitoring and advanced nursing interventions, including ventilator care and telemetry.

The Transition to Practice program offers orientation and a structured residency to support new graduates transitioning to practice.

Qualifications

• Education Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required).
• BSN or MSN preferred.
• Currently pursuing an accredited nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent nursing care using the nursing process.
• Perform assessment, diagnoses, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care and evaluation.
• Adhere to standards of practice and professional performance in ethics, communication and leadership.

Job Summary

Overview: Sentara Leigh Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Intermediate Care Unit (Stepdown) 4 East! Up to $15,000 Sign-On Bonus for Qualified Applicants!

Responsibilities

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Department Overview

This 24 bed IMC Unit is designed for patients who are too ill for general medical/surgical, but do not need an intensive level of care. Patients on 4E require continuous monitoring and advanced nursing interventions including but not limited to ventilator management, tracheostomy care, telemetry monitoring, heparin infusions, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula and post-operative cardiac and vascular patient care.

Transition to Practice Program

The 11-week Transition to Practice program focuses on the orientation transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in IMC areas. For new graduates, this TTP program is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program to support your transition to practice.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required) Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred) Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program. Certification/Licensure Registered nursing License (Required) Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License. BLS required within 90 days of hire Experience None required
