HealthForce Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department travel assignment in Burlington, Vermont. The role runs 20–26 weeks with a start date of 11/16/2026, offering a 12-hour rotating day/night shift and hospital-based ED responsibilities.

The position requires current RN licensure in Vermont, a nursing degree (ADN/BSN or higher), and ER experience with EPIC EMR familiarity. Travel support and credentialing assistance are provided.

Qualifications

• Active RN license with eligibility to practice in Vermont in good standing.
• Nursing degree from an accredited program (ADN, BSN, or higher).
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS; NIHSS and TNCC required; de-escalation training preferred.
• ER nursing experience: minimum 2 years; prior travel experience; large teaching facility experience preferred.
• EPIC EMR experience within the past 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct ED nursing care, including rapid assessment, stabilization, and disposition decisions for each patient.
• Administer medications and procedures per orders; monitor responses and elevate as needed.
• Triage patients, support throughput, and collaborate with the care team to maintain safety and quality.
• Document care thoroughly in the EPIC electronic medical record, ensuring accuracy of vitals, medications, interventions, and diagnoses.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, ancillary staff, and families; participate in discharge planning and education.
• Maintain scheduling flexibility to meet unit needs, including coverage for every-other-weekend shifts and day/night rotation as required.

Setting: hospital-based emergency department. Assignment type: Travel - Temporary Assignment. Requirements

• Education: Nursing degree from an accredited program (ADN, BSN, or higher)
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required; NIHSS and TNCC required. TNCC must be in packet or proof of class prior to start; NIHSS required prior to start. CEN, ENPC, MOAB, ProAct, or other de-escalation training preferred
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience; prior travel experience; large teaching facility experience is required
• EMR: EPIC experience within the past 2 years is required
• Additional: Ability to work in a high-volume ED with rotating day/night shifts; reliable transportation as needed due to local commute requirements
