Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Radiology Technologist with O-arm and Neuro OR experience for a 13-week assignment across two hospital campuses in Charleston, SC.

The role requires ARRT Radiography (R) certification, BLS, active SC or compact radiography license, SCRQSA Radiographer Certification, and strong interpersonal and teaching skills. Cerner charting will be used; travel between Roper and Berkley Hospitals is expected.

• BLS certification through the American Heart Association required.
• Active SC or compact radiography license required.
• SCRQSA Radiographer Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Works across two locations: Roper Hospital, Charleston, SC and Berkley Hospital, Summerville, SC.
• Schedule is Tuesday through Friday, four 10-hour shifts, 0700-1730.
• Call and holiday coverage required.
• Will work in OR and on the floor as needed.
• Performs radiologic procedures under medical supervision for direct interpretation results.
• Supervises student Radiologic Technologists and assists radiologists on procedures.

• South Carolina Radiation Quality Standard Association (SCRQSA) Radiographer Certification required
• License required if applicable
• High school diploma or GED required; graduate of an accredited Allied Health Professionals program preferred
• O-arm and neuro OR experience required
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills required
• Demonstrated ability to perform and teach radiologic exams to produce diagnostic images
• Knowledge of OSHA, DHEC, FDA, and TJC standards and regulations

Responsibilities

• Works across two locations: Roper Hospital in Charleston, SC and Berkley Hospital in Summerville, SC
• Schedule is Tuesday through Friday, four 10-hour shifts, 0700-1730
• Call and holiday coverage required
• Will work in both the OR and on the floor as a staff tech as needed
• Uses Cerner for charting
• Travelers may float to a sister hospital nearby
• Performs radiologic procedures under medical supervision of certified radiologists for direct interpretation results
• Assists radiologists on procedures as needed and supervises student Radiologic Technologists
• Instructs and prepares patients regarding imaging procedures and assists with informed consent
• Communicates with radiologists and family members regarding procedures and discharge instructions
• Practices radiation safety in accordance with ALARA principles
• Ensures correct orders, diagnosis, and clinical history are entered into the computer system
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
• Travelers may remain on assignment up to one calendar year from initial start date, followed by a required break before returning to a new assignment
