Job summary

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) for a 13-week travel assignment in Bloomington, Indiana. The PTA works under the supervision of a Physical Therapist to implement treatment plans that improve mobility, reduce pain, and enhance functional independence.

They document progress, educate patients on home exercise programs, and collaborate with the healthcare team to support recovery and quality of life. Excellent benefits and support are provided.

Qualifications

• Valid PTA license in Indiana required.
• Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification required.
• Graduate of an accredited PTA program (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Set up therapy equipment and treatment areas, ensuring devices and supplies are calibrated, clean, and ready for patient sessions.
• Guide patients through prescribed exercises and activities to improve mobility, strength, and balance, with hands-on assistance as needed.
• Observe patient performance, report progress or concerns to the supervising PT.
• Accurately record patient treatment details and progress in the medical record.
• Instruct patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and safe mobility techniques.
• Coordinate with physical/occupational therapists and other healthcare professionals on patient care.
• Maintain a safe treatment environment, adhering to infection control protocols and regulatory standards.
• Engage in quality assurance and professional development to stay current with best practices.
• Collaborate in discharge planning for smooth transitions to home-based settings.
• Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
