Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Polysomnographer/Sleep Technologist for a hospital sleep lab in a night-shift capacity. The candidate will perform overnight PSG studies on pediatric and adult patients, monitor and score sleep sessions, and titrate therapies such as CPAP/BiPAP/ASV.

LICENSED RCP with current BLS and RPSGT/RRT/SDS certifications are required. Position involves a 1:2 patient ratio, potential to float to sister facilities, and a 3x12 night shift schedule.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in polysomnography with pediatric and adult patients.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner license and compact license in hand.
• Current BLS certification.
• RPSGT, RRT with SDS, or SDS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Overnight polysomnography studies for pediatric and adult patients.
• Monitor and score sleep studies; titrate therapy (CPAP/BiPAP/ASV) as needed.
• Perform mask fitting and patient education.
• Operate in a hospital sleep lab with 1:2 patient ratio.
• Work 3×12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM–7:00 AM) and cover holidays.
• Epic EMR experience required; may float between sister facilities.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Polysomnographer / Sleep Technologist with at least 1 year of experience and a Respiratory Care Practitioner License for a night shift hospital sleep lab position.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience required, including pediatric and adult populations
• Must have Respiratory Care Practitioner License (license required if applicable)
• BLS required
• RPSGT, RRT with SDS, RRT, or SDS certification required
• Compact license must be in hand at time of submission
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in monitoring end-tidal CO2, cardiac abnormalities, ECG, EEG, O2 saturation, PLM, PSG, and RIP
• Experience with study types including MSLT (adult and pediatric), baseline PSG, home sleep testing, and seizure studies
• Proficient in staging and scoring including arousal, Cheyne-Stokes, complex sleep apnea, hypopnea, periodic breathing, and respiratory events
• Experience with titration therapies including ASV, BiPAP, CPAP, VPAP, and oxygen administration
• Skilled in mask fitting including full face, nasal mask, and nasal pillow
• Experience with Alice and ResMed equipment preferred
• Knowledge of infection control and patient education practices

Responsibilities

• Hospital-based sleep lab setting caring for both pediatric and adult patients
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Epic EMR experience required
• Potential to float between sister facilities as needed
• Perform overnight polysomnography studies including monitoring, scoring, and titration of therapy for pediatric and adult patients
• Conduct mask fitting and patient education as part of care delivery
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront prior to offer, as post-offer requests may not be granted
• Former Providence permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel employee and must not apply within 50 miles of their prior facility
• Accepted at a lower bill rate for candidates within a 50-mile local radius
• Two supervisory references required, covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
