Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist for an inpatient/swing bed unit in Illinois. Applicants must hold a Physical Therapy license for Illinois and BLS certification; new graduates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities include exams, evaluations, and developing plans of care for orthopedic and neurologic conditions, with EMR-based documentation and patient education. The schedule is Tue–Sat, 8:00 am–4:30 pm, 40 hours weekly, with limited weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy required.
• Illinois PT license required if applicable.
• BLS certification required.

• Proficiency in ROM, strength, and functional testing.
• Experience with ultrasound, interferential, and iontophoresis.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Weekend/holiday coverage limited to Saturdays.
• No floating requirements.
• Uses therapy EMR for daily documentation and charging.
• Performs exams and evaluations to determine PT diagnoses.
• Designs and adjusts care plans based on goals and evidence.
• Educates patients and families using effective teaching methods.
• Applies taping techniques for movement control.
• Communicates with referring providers on progress and treatment recommendations.
• May supervise students and support personnel.
• Completes documentation per clinical policies.

• Illinois Physical Therapist (PT) License required if applicable
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
• New graduates considered
• Experience with orthopedic and neurologic condition evaluation
• Proficiency in objective testing including range of motion, strength, and functional task performance
• Experience with therapeutic modalities such as ultrasound, interferential, and iontophoresis
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Inpatient and swing bed unit at a therapy department
• Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, 40 hours per week
• Weekend and holiday coverage limited to Saturdays
• No floating requirements
• Utilizes therapy EMR for daily documentation and charging
• Performs patient examinations, screenings, and evaluations to determine physical therapy diagnoses and treatment plans
• Designs and adjusts plans of care based on patient goals, response, and clinical evidence
• Educates patients, families, caregivers, and students using effective teaching methods
• Applies taping techniques for stabilization, facilitation, or inhibition of movement
• Communicates with referring providers regarding patient progress and treatment recommendations
• May supervise students and support personnel in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines
• Completes documentation in compliance with facility clinical process policies
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Radius rule of 50 miles applies; local candidates within this radius are not eligible
• Open to first-time travelers
