Job summary

TotalMed RN is recruiting an Operating Room travel nurse for a Boone, Iowa assignment. The RN will support circulating, scrub, or first-assistant roles in the OR, with an emphasis on patient safety and perioperative care.

The position requires a currently licensed RN and BLS certification. Travel nurses will provide pre- and post-surgery care, collaborate with physicians and staff, and may assist with education and discharge planning.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of recent acute care experience as circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or RN first assistant.
• Current RN license is required.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medications, reporting adverse reactions.
• Serve as liaison between patients, families and operating team.
• Ensure correct procedures are performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate and educate patients on post-operative care and home care needs.
• Additional duties may include monitoring equipment and assisting with instrument handling.
