Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Arlington, Virginia. This position requires 13 weeks of work, 40 hours per week, with 10-hour daytime shifts in the OR setting.

The ideal candidate has 1-2 years of acute care experience as circulating or scrub nurse, and may serve as RN first assistant. BLS is required, with additional certifications possible before starting the assignment.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• 2 years of acute care OR experience as circulating or scrub nurse.
• Additional certifications may be required before starting.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting adverse reactions.
• Serve as liaison between patients' families and operating team.
• Ensure the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; educate on home care needs.
• Assist in instrument handling and preparation for procedures.
• Monitor equipment during surgery and respond to potential complications.
• Assist physicians with direct surgical care and bleeding control as needed.
