Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking an OR travel nurse in Mattoon, IL for a 13-week assignment. The role is 40 hours per week with 10-hour day shifts, requiring 1–2 years of acute care experience as circulating or scrub nurse.

Certification in BLS/ACLS is expected, with potential RN first assistant duties. As an OR travel nurse, you will support surgeons, provide perioperative care, and ensure safety and accurate procedure delivery while coordinating with the operating team.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years recent acute care experience as circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse, and potentially RN first assistant.
• Basic bedside care and patient education required.
• Good communication with patients, families and operating team is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients.
• Provide pre- and post-surgery care and education to the patient.
• Assist with preparing instruments and equipment for procedures; monitor patient during surgery.
• Respond to patient comfort and safety needs; document care and medication administration.
• Manage specimens and inventory of surgical items pre- and post-procedure.
