Job summary

TotalMed RN seeks a travel nurse RN with Oncology infusion experience for a 13-week assignment in Minneapolis. The role covers PICC line management, IV infusions, and patient education, with a focus on safety and high-quality care.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of infusion RN experience, current BLS and CHEMO certifications, and licensure eligibility. Expect a 40-hour week on days, with travel benefits and comprehensive benefits offered by TotalMed RN.

Qualifications

• Requires at least 1 year of RN infusion experience.
• Current BLS certification; CHEMO certification; eligible for state licensure.
• Additional certifications may be required before starting an assignment.
• Stand or walk for long periods; bend, stoop and lift with proper body mechanics.
• Autonomous, organized, and compassionate with excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments to determine need for infusion therapy or PICC placement.
• Insert, maintain, and care for PICC lines and other central venous access devices.
• Administer IV medications, fluids, and other treatments as prescribed with proper infusion techniques.
• Monitor patient responses during and after infusions, adjusting care plans as needed.
• Educate patients and families on PICC care, infusion therapy, and home management.
• Collaborate with healthcare team to coordinate care and ensure continuity across settings.
• Assess for and prevent infusion-related complications, document nursing interventions and progress.
• Ensure infection control and safety protocols in handling and disposal of equipment.
• Manage caseload with timely visits and updates while maintaining quality and patient satisfaction.
