This individual employs critical thinkingand performance ability in the coordinator of patient care, consistentlyperforms according to nursing standards, and is accountable in managing patientcare and assisting others in the management of patient care. The Progressive Care Unit RN is sometimesalso called a step-down nurse, cardiac stepdown, neuro stepdown, surgicalstepdown and in some medical centers, the PCU is also known as a transition orintermedia unit.
