Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) located in an acute hospital setting. This role involves providing specialized care to adult and geriatric patients with varying medical conditions, utilizing a collaborative team approach within a co-care/virtual nursing model. The position demands an immediate start for a 13-week assignment, requiring the ability to work night shifts and adapt to unit needs, including floating within scope.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Valid AK registered nurse license (must be in hand for auto-offer), BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications, minimum 1 year of clinical experience, charting experience with Epic, and familiarity with adult and geriatric patient populations
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in stepdown units from ICU, cardiac telemetry, neuro, renal care, or medical-surgical patients, and experience with high acuity patient monitoring
• On-call Requirement: No
• Weekend Requirement: Weekend coverage could be more frequent than every other, subject to staffing needs
• Float: Float within scope to lower acuity units, renal care, neuro, and medical-surgical patients
• Additional Information: The unit employs a co-care/virtual nursing model with a bedside RN, virtual RN, and CNA for each patient. Patient population includes approximately 30% cardiac-related cases such as CHF, MI, post-TAVR, MVR, pacemaker, and arrhythmia patients, as well as respiratory patients including COVID-19, COPD, and asthma exacerbations. The unit manages complicated medical-surgical patients requiring higher levels of monitoring, such as those with drug load, ETOH withdrawal, GIB, and trauma. The virtual RN works remotely assisting with admissions, discharges, rounding, education, care plans, and safety interventions.
