Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join a hospital radiology team. The role requires ARRT or NMTCB registration and BLS, with GE NM 830 experience and CT cross-training preferred.

The position is 0.8 FTE (24 hours per week) on a day shift with no on-call, weekends, or holidays. You will use RIS/CIS/SMS/PACS for documentation and support patient care and safety.

Qualifications

  • ARRT or NMTCB certification required.
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider certification required.
  • Graduation from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program required.
  • GE NM 830 experience required.
  • CT cross-training highly preferred.
  • License required if applicable.
  • Must maintain registry status and annual CE requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Hospital-based Nuclear Medicine department operations.
  • Work 24 hours per week, 8-hour shifts, 3 days per week.
  • 0.8 FTE contract position with day shift schedule.
  • No on-call, weekend, or holiday requirements.
  • Use RIS, CIS, SMS, PACS for documentation and coordination.
  • Perform patient identifications, consent, and venous access for radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Document dose, route, and administration details for records.
  • Assess requisitions, charts, labs, and patient pregnancy screening.
  • Handle radiopharmaceuticals per Radiation Safety Office/NRC guidelines.
  • Set up imaging and perform acquisitions per protocol.
  • Analyze/correctly process images for physician review.
  • May perform PET imaging or lead technologist duties.
  • Coordinate inpatient transport to/from Nuclear Medicine.

  • Uses RIS, CIS, SMS, PACS, and transport tracking systems for documentation and patient coordination
  • Perform patient identification, informed consent, and venous access for radiopharmaceutical administration
  • Document radiopharmaceutical route, dose, and administration details for charge and record-keeping purposes
  • Evaluate requisitions, charts, and lab results, and perform patient assessments including pregnancy screening confirmation for patients of childbearing age
  • Handle radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with Radiation Safety Office and NRC guidelines, including receipt, documentation, and disposal
  • Perform radiopharmaceutical selection, dosage review, and quality control to ensure correct and properly recorded doses
  • Set up and perform imaging acquisitions per protocol while maintaining patient comfort, care, and safety
  • Analyze and process images for physician review and approval
  • May perform advanced duties including PET imaging or lead technologist responsibilities
  • Coordinate inpatient transport to and from the Nuclear Medicine department
