Summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, operating advanced imaging equipment, monitoring patient safety, and ensuring compliance with radiation safety standards while collaborating with healthcare teams to deliver accurate diagnostic results.

Essential Work Functions
  • Educates patients about nuclear medicine procedures and addresses questions
  • Maintains and inspects nuclear medicine equipment for proper functioning; reports malfunctions and ensures radiation safety compliance
  • Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals and other medications according to protocols and safety standards
  • Monitors patients for adverse reactions, intervening as necessary to ensure safety
  • Operates medical imaging equipment to create images per physician orders
  • Documents procedure details in patient records to ensure continuity of care and regulatory compliance
  • Follows hospital safety rules, policies, and radiation safety procedures to minimize exposure
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of Nuclear Medicine Technologist practice

Employment Details
