Summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is a highly specialized healthcare professional responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals to diagnose and treat various medical conditions. They operate advanced imaging equipment and ensure compliance with radiation safety standards while collaborating with the healthcare team.

Essential Work Functions

• Educates patients about nuclear medicine procedures and addresses questions.
• Maintains and inspects nuclear medicine equipment, reporting malfunctions and ensuring safety compliance.
• Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals and other medications per protocols.
• Monitors patients for adverse reactions, intervening as necessary.
• Operates imaging equipment to create images per physician orders.
• Documents procedure details in patient records for continuity and compliance.
• Follows hospital safety rules and radiation safety procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
