Job summary

A travel nursing agency is seeking a Travel Nurse RN NICU for a position in Des Moines, Iowa. The candidate must have at least 24 months of NICU experience, an active IA RN license, and BLS/NRP certifications. Responsibilities include managing patients in a Level II NICU environment with a focus on neonates with various health conditions. Additionally, travelers are required to work two of three major holidays. Competitive benefits are offered, starting from day one of the assignment.

• Must have completed at least one prior travel contract within past 18 months
• Driver's license required
• Prefer supervisory reference within past 2 years

Responsibilities

• Provide care in a 42-bed Level II NICU.
• Manage patients, including premature infants and neonates with respiratory distress.
• Participate in floating between general pediatrics and PICU as needed.
• Floating to general pediatrics and PICU as needed

Assignment Overview

• Shift: Days, 3x12hrs
• Hours: 36 hrs/wk
• Start Date: Apr 27, 2026
• Length: 13 weeks

Details

• 42-bed Level II NICU within a pediatric hospital environment
• Patient population includes premature infants and neonates with respiratory distress/failure, hypoglycemia, and related conditions
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:3
• Vasopressors, sedation, and glucose management are performed on the unit
• Floating may be required to general pediatrics and PICU
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active IA single-state or compact/multistate RN license required
• Current BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 24 months of NICU/Neonatal Intensive Care experience required
• Demonstrated experience and comfort with vasopressors, sedation, and glucose administration required
• Must have completed at least one prior travel contract within the past 18 months
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Supervisory performance evaluation or professional reference from within the past 2 years preferred

Additional Information

• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Travelers are required to work 2 of the following 3 holidays: Christmas, New Year\'s, or Thanksgiving
• RTO is limited to 1 day during the Thanksgiving week and winter holiday periods
