The role demands two years of acute care, NICU experience, and ability to float to multiple units as needed within a Magnet-designated pediatric facility. Local candidates 50 miles away are ineligible.

Qualifications

• Two years of acute care in the last three years, including NICU experience.
• Recent experience managing post-op patients and ventilatory support.
• Epic EMR experience is required.
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the work site.

Responsibilities

• Care for critically ill and postoperative neonates in a Level IV NICU.
• Work 12-hour night shifts, 7:00pm–7:30am, with 2–3 weekends every 6 weeks.
• Travelers may float to multiple units or locations as staffing needs dictate.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a Magnet-designated pediatric facility.
• Provide comprehensive family-centered care from admission to discharge.
• Complete orientation typically within one week; travel logistics provided in the welcome letter.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level IV NICU position requiring recent acute care and neonatal critical care experience in Madison, WI.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a 26-bed Level IV NICU caring for critically ill and postoperative newborns and infants
• Work schedule consists of 12-hour evening/night shifts from 7:00pm to 7:30am, with requirement to work 2-3 weekends per 6-week schedule
• Assignment length is 13 to 26 weeks
• Travelers are the first to float and may be assigned to multiple units or locations based on staffing needs
• Epic EMR experience is required, preferably within the last 12 months
• Provide comprehensive care for critically ill and postoperative neonates and their families from admission to discharge
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a Magnet-designated pediatric facility with a patient- and family-centered approach
• Orientation is typically one week and may vary by department; start dates and orientation locations are provided in the welcome letter
• Strict pass/fail criteria for telemetry testing; up to three attempts are allowed with additional training if needed
• Weekend rotation and some holiday coverage are expected
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible
• First-time travelers are considered for some units

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license in hand at the time of application
• Current American Heart Association BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications
• Two years of acute care experience within the last three years, including at least one year in Level IV or Level III NICU
• Recent experience managing post-op patients, g-tubes, trach/vents, and various modes of invasive/noninvasive ventilation
• Basic arrhythmia experience and ability to pass a telemetry exam prior to start
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the work site
