Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN for a Neuro Med-Surg assignment in Peoria, Illinois. Neuro and trauma experience, IL license, and prior travel RN work are preferred.

You will work three 12-hour nights per week on a 54-bed Neuro Med-Surg unit with telemetry and Epic EMR. The 18-week assignment starts 01/05/2026, pays on a 36-hour week, and includes benefits, travel/license reimbursements, and per diem options.

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration.
• Minimum of one year RN experience.
• BLS (AHA) certification required.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.
• Must have Level 1 trauma experience.
• Prior travel RN experience required.
• Experience titrating heparin drips.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Neuro Med-Surg Acute unit within an acute care hospital setting.
• Night shift, three 12-hour shifts per week from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am.
• Unit has 54 beds serving neuroscience diagnoses.
• Patient ratios 1:4-5 days, 1:5-6 nights.
• Titrate heparin drips per protocol; assist with heparin gtt.
• Epic EMR used; Epic experience preferred.
• Float in rotation with regular staff; competency-based assignments.
• Weekend rotation every other weekend; holiday rotation.
• Support staff includes nurse aides and patient care techs.
